Tomorrow, The Originals finally arrives on the small screen, and we have this clip of Executive Producer Julie Plec from San Diego Comic-Con 2013!
In it, she touches on TVD Season 5, but goes into more detail about The Originals. Here are some points that she brought up:
- The Originals is about a brother – Elijah – who has watched his family fracture, and his brother, Klaus, descend into a dark place. In this new series, Elijah is trying to bring what remains of his family back together
- she described Klaus and Hayley’s baby as a “Brechtian Bullet,” and says that the baby is what inspires and mystifies Elijah, and everyone else. The baby will be a “very powerful presence” that will affect the emotions and humanity in each of the characters
- we are going to learn more about Marcel and how Klaus entered his life
- Hayley has been challenging, exciting, and even surprising to write. She is a lost girl who is not only about to become a mother, she’s a pawn in this larger chess game. Plec said that she has enjoyed giving Hayley a rich, deep life and history.
