Beauty and the Beast is Back with “Seeing Red”

Y’all know I have championed Beauty and the Beast as my favorite new show this season, and I’m still holding to that. It’s the one that I’m most glad is back from the winter break. “Seeing Red” premieres tonight at 9 pm ET/8 pm CT on The CW and 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on Showcase.

When we left off with “Bridesmaid Up,” Catherine’s dad got married and she got to have a  semi-real date with Vincent when he showed up at the reception. Unfortunately, he didn’t stick around for her toast, which was as much an homage to her dad and his new bride and it was to her and Vincent–the key takeaway being that opposites can make it work.

Also gumming up the works–Evan has decided, despite Catherine’s best attempts to dissuade him, to dive headlong into an investigation of the killer he overheard in the subway when he was kidnapped. Part of that involves him running DNA sequencing and what not, which makes Catherine, Vincent and J.T. extra twitchy.

In the cliffhanger moment before the break, Catherine left the reception early to go find Vincent and was pursued by the killer of the week, who ran her off the road, and whom she dropped where she stood with a shot to the chest. Fortunately, Vincent was still close enough by to break Catherine out of her mangled car. Unfortunately, Heather and Evan drove up just as he ripped the door off its hinges and scooped Catherine away.

We pick up tonight in the aftermath of that as Catherine recovers from the accident. It looks like Vincent’s decision to come to the hospital will have repercussions when he’s recognized by another doctor. I’m guessing that’s to throw in some more love geometry (one of my least favorite things ever in a TV show) and keep Vincent and Catherine apart a little while longer, but I’m so glad that they’re back that I’ll let it slide until we see what they’re doing. Here’s a sneak peek:
