[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]
So, it turns out that Peter has good reason to be shifty. It’s just not what we think it is, and I’m not telling you ahead of Bellevue‘s sixth episode because it’s a doozy.
What I will tell you is that it sparks all kinds of doubts for Annie, going back 20 years. And it gives Anna Paquin and Shawn Doyle a fantastic scene where Annie and Peter completely tear each other apart, as only family can. I hope we get another equally riveting scene when they can put it behind them.
Before that all shakes out, Annie starts going through her Dad’s case files, poring over his notebooks and recorded interviews until she uncovers some things that challenge her notions of what kind of cop and man he was. It made me realize, too, that she never mentions her Mom. I wonder if we’ll get to her before the end of the season.
Annie also reaches a breaking point with Eddie, who just wants to enjoy a normal relationship for a while. That leads her to say some really ugly things that Daisy overhears, and to drag Brady into the middle of her hot familial mess. Just as she reaches a mega breaking point, she gets an unexpected visitor and we get a reveal (sort of).
Virginia stumbles onto new evidence that raises questions about an alibi in Jesse’s case while working a roaming rave case for Lilly, whose plate is full with several pressing concerns.
With only two episodes left after this one, there are still several mysteries to unravel, as well as find out the answer to the better questions of what state Annie, and those closest to her, will be in when they do.
