Pretty Hard Cases Preview: “Dog Treats”

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Wednesday on a new Pretty Hard Cases, Sam and Kelly get closer to the origin of the money behind the guns while Elliot and Jackie sort out last week’s ghosting.

Sam is working hard to inch her way into Kelly’s BFFdom through good old-fashioned girls night, but does so at her own peril when she feels compelled to speak her mind about the Len situation.

When she gets no love or back up from Naz or Nate, who has respectfully exited the chat and removed himself from a love triangle, she calls in the big guns. That not only doesn’t go as planned, but it drives Kelly away from Sam and toward Len.

Meanwhile, Edwina has to deal with her own boys club bullshit when she’s targeted by one of the detectives who was antagonizing Kelly last season. That also doesn’t go well.

Jackie lands at her aunt’s house, which is teeming with foster kids, and is soon enticed back off the straight and narrow that she keeps intending to embrace. Elliot’s doing his best to walk that line, spending quality time with both Judy and Sam and denouncing his former ways.

In terms of the case, Sam, Kelly, Nate, and Len try to run a UC op (shout out to Meredith MacNeil’s planking skills) on the accountant (Pure’s Gord Rand). They successfully get some intel, and more than they bargained for, from the mild-mannered papa of a pampered pooch.

Mars Horodyski directs a script by Keavy Lynch.

Pretty Hard Cases airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. (9:30 p.m. NT) on CBC and CBC Gem. All our previous coverage is here. Here’s a sneak peek of “Dog Treats.”
