In tonight’s episode of Outlander, “Do No Harm,” Jamie and Claire arrive at River Run. This marks the highly anticipated debut of Maria Doyle Kennedy in the role of Jamie’s aunt, Jocasta Cameron.
Everyone is a bit surprised at the scale of River Run, but the size of Jocasta’s warm welcome is even greater.
Jamie is still feeling guilty for losing everything at the hands of Stephen Bonnet and his band of thieves. Aunt Jocasta reminds her nephew of his accomplishments. He breathes a sigh of relief, especially because Jocasta reminds him so much of his late mother.
Claire, on the other hand, is uneasy as they attempt to settle in. She’s taken aback by Jocasta’s slaves, and speaks her mind about it. After all, Claire has witnessed first-hand the lingering effects of this time period on America. She saw how her good friend, Joe Abernathy, was treated in medical school in the future. Claire and Jocasta may not see eye to eye on certain things, but Jo appreciates — and I’d say even respects — Claire’s conviction.
Jamie also disrupts the status quo at River Run when he guides his aunt away from the recommendation of a trusted advisor.
A life-changing surprise awaits Jamie and Claire that will make waves in the status quo at River Run. The episode also explores the atrocities committed during this time period.
