Netflix Announces Premiere Dates for New Series, Renews Marco Polo

The 2015 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour has kicked off in Pasadena, CA, and Netflix unveiled its original programming plans for the upcoming year, including premiere dates for four anticipated new series, and a renewal.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, from creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, starring Ellie Kemper, will debut on Friday, March 6. The half-hour comedy centres on Kimmy Schmidt (Kemper), a woman who escapes a doomsday cult and starts a new life in NYC. The 13-episode season also features Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane.

Bloodline, a dark drama centered on the Rayburn family and the emotional demons that threaten to destroy them, premieres on Friday, March 20. The powerhouse cast of the 13-episode series includes Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz, Jacinda Barrett, Jamie McShane, Enrique Murciano, Sissy Spacek, and Sam Shepard.

The first of the Marvel series on Netflix, Marvel’s Daredevil, debuts on Friday, April 10. Set in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, NYC, this is the story of Matt Murdock, a lawyer that was blinded as a young boy but left with superhuman senses that he channels into his alter ego, Daredevil. Along with Charlie Cox in the title role, the series also stars Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson.

The Jane Fonda / Lily Tomlin series Grace and Frankie is set for Friday, May 8. It’s the story of frenemies who must start their lives over in their 70s when their husbands leave them for each other. Rounding out this cast are Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael and Baron Vaughn. The 13-episode series was created by Marta Kauffman (Friends) and Howard J. Morris (Home Improvement).

And finally, Marco Polo, which debuted this past December, will return for a second 10-episode season later this year.
