Constantine premieres tomorrow, and the character that I can’t wait to meet is Zed, played by Angelica Celaya!
We had the chance to chat with Celaya at both San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con this year, so we have clips from both to share with you.
Before you dig into the videos below, here are a few things you should know about Celaya’s portrayal of Zed:
- When we are first introduced to Zed, we quickly learn that she’s considered insane and is consumed by everything that’s going on with her abilities.
- Regarding Zed’s trademark white streaks in her hair, there are no plans for that — yet. Celaya said they can’t appear without a reason.
- Her portrayal of the character is more about her interpretation of Zed rather than trying to be a carbon copy of how Zed is represented in the comic book.
- Celaya loves Zed’s sarcasm and that she doesn’t take crap from anybody. Zed is also sneaky and not scared to get her hands dirty.
- The connection between Constantine and Zed evolves and opens up even more with each episode.
- John Constantine is Zed’s teacher and her biggest ally. He’s the one who leads her into this world.
