This week on Coroner, it’s safe to say that Jenny has A DAY, with a complicated homicide case easily taking second place to the goings on at home.
Still struggling with the sleepwalking, she starts the day with Dr. Sharma (Saad Siddiqui) when she’s pulled from a session into the homicide of a grad student lab assistant. That starts off somewhere fairly straightforward and then ends up anywhere but. Liam is working out his anxieties on the MMA mat with Mal (Alex Mallari Jr.), and then that, too, goes a little sideways. Things go from bad to worse when Ross decides to join in and Liam’s struggles become apparent.
Gordon’s sense of recall comes and goes throughout the episode, with varying degrees of clarity and cloudiness. When that crosses paths with the work the murdered lab assistant was doing, Jenny’s thrown a little off her game. At work, there’s also a new pathologist, Casey Winter (Jeffrey R. Smith), who’s warmly welcomed by River. Pro tip: Avert your gaze during their autopsy.
Donovan spends time diving into the practicalities of the case, accompanied by Malik (Andy McQueen), who really, really wants Donovan to like and value him. He’s also still intrigued by Noor (Olunike Adeliyi) and her mission.
Winnifred Jong directs a quiet, emotionally layered script by Nathalie Younglai.
