Anne with an E Season 2, Episode 3, “The True Seeing is Within,” airs this evening on CBC in Canada. Here’s your preview.
“To think that my words will be sent across the ocean delivering news of gold!” – Anne
Anne has taken it upon herself to inform Gilbert about the supposed gold in Avonlea. She has written a letter, and plans to find a way to get it to him while visiting Aunt Josephine in Charlottetown with the Barrys. Meanwhile, the danger at Green Gables is increasing as Nate fears he may not be able to pull off his con.
Some of Nate’s secret drunken cruelty is directed toward Jerry, conjuring up some feelings of guilt from the young farmhand. Jerry still regrets losing the money from the sale of the Cuthberts’ horse at Christmas. Will this jostle Jerry’s memory that the boarders are the same people who robbed him? Jerry’s not the only one with feelings of uneasiness about Nate. Marilla is also on edge as her suspicions begin to grow.
“Take notes as you explore your life. It’ll help you make sense of it.” – Malcolm Frost
Following a conversation with Aunt Josephine, Anne starts to put the puzzle pieces together that Nate and Mr. Dunlop may not be on the up and up. It leads her to meeting a disgraced former journalist, Malcolm Frost, who not only helps her see the bigger picture, but also teaches her a bit about herself.
“All we can do is our best, Marilla, regardless of what we know or don’t know.” – Anne
Despite the darker tone of this episode, there are some very bright, hopeful moments, and lessons to be learned about trusting your instincts, always striving to learn, and never giving up in the face of adversity.
Overall, “The True Seeing is Within” is a tense, action-packed episode that you won’t want to miss.
