TVD Drink Contest – Create the Petrova Fire!

After tonight’s episode of Vampire Diaries, we are going to have a long, long wait until the next new episode in April. So I thought I’d give us TVD fans a little distraction and throw a little contest – who can create the perfect TVD inspired drink, “Petrova Fire”!

Here’s how you can take part:

1) Create a drink that you think best captures the essence of “Petrova Fire”. It can be a cocktail or a shot (with or without alcohol).

2) Share your recipe with us in the comments below.

We’ll close submissions on April 6th (at noon Eastern Time), and a poll will select the 3 best recipes. Then, the night that TVD returns, I want readers to sample the top recipes and select a winner! That way, you can enjoy your very own glass of “Petrova Fire” along with TVD‘s return! The winner’s recipe will also be featured in a future edition of the TVD Podcast, and will receive a small prize!

Here’s a sample recipe, courtesy of me (but don’t worry, this doesn’t count as a contest entry):

3 shots of vodka (your choice, but I prefer Grey Goose)
1 shot of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
Crushed ice

Prepare 4 shot glasses and put a cinnamon heart in the bottom of each. Mix the vodka and cinnamon whiskey in a martini shaker with crushed ice. Shake for 30 seconds. Strain and pour into each shot glass.

*Special thanks to my podcast co-horts … this contest was inspired by a podcast that we attempted to record back in November that we ended up losing when the recording program crashed!

**Also, please drink responsibly!

  1. Petrova Fire (Alcohol included of course)

    1.25 oz. Patron Tequila
    1 splash of cranberry juice
    1 splash Grenadine
    1 splash of orange juice
    1/2 tsp of Cayenne Pepper

Combine ingredients over a glass of ice. Add lime wedge and cherry for glass decorations. Enjoy

*Warning* Your mouth may burn just a little!

  2. Moonshine and 911 on speed dial. It’s good to be in college and still living with my parents. How can the boys resist this?!

  3. Well she’s a Bulgarian so I say Rakiq(special bulgarian alcohol ), with some black cherry liqueur and crushed ice ! May be some mint on top(or vervain :D) Rakiq is easy to find in Bulgaria but if you can not – use vodka! Will look like blood and smell fresh !

  4. Didn’t come up with this recipe but it fits perfectly:

1/3 shot absinthe (for the mind-bending kick in the ass you didn’t see coming)
1/3 shot tequila (for the bad girl in us all)
1/3 shot vodka (for a razor sharp edge)

No ice, straight up, and make sure you brought your game face. This drink takes no prisoners.

  5. Hmmmm…
…gonna make this up as i go.

    In a balls glass
    Crushed ice
    1oz vodka
    1oz Red sour puss
    Splash of grenedine
    Fill with cran-pineapple juice
Drop bits of FLESH from a BLOOD orange on top.
Put on some fake fangs and try to drink it!

  6. (in short, a spicy blood orange margarita)

    1/4 c silver tequila
    1/2 tbsp lime juice
    1/4 c triple sec
2-3 tbsp of blood orange juice
2 slices seeded serrano or jalapeno peppers (more or less to taste)

Combine in shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Flame an orange peel, rub around the rim, and serve in the drink as a garnish.

  7. 1/4 shot absinthe
    1/4 shot vodka
add some lemon juice, Red Bull, teacup spoon of sugar and crushed ice
sprinkle with some vervain and decorate with vervain leaf 😉

  8. My Favorite Martini Deep red in color, very bloody looking, totally Katherine:

1 oz vodka (or citrus vodka, if you have it)
    1/2 oz Cointreau orange liqueur
3 oz pomegranate juice (can also substitute cranberry juice)
    chopped ice
    1/4 teaspoon lemon juice

Shake for 20 sec and then pour your drink will be deep red and bloody just like Katherine likes it.

YOU can garnish the rim with sugar, but that woudn’t be Katherine’s style.

  9. Bloody Murder
    1 1/2 oz sloe gin
    1 1/2 oz Southern Comfort
    1 1/2 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz gin ( Tanqueray or bust)
    5 oz orange juice
Top off with a splash of Galliano

Build over ice in a tall glass. Stir. Add grenadine if you see Klaus.
