The Television Critics Association tour is currently happening in LA, and at last week’s Starz presentation, some really juicy info about this summer’s new season of Torchwood were divulged!
EW reported that it will no longer be titled Torchwood: The New World … it is now Torchwood: Miracle Day. And if you thought things couldn’t get more catastrophic than they were in 2009’s Children of Earth, get this – in Miracle Day, the earth’s population is set to explode when people stop dying.
Joining John Barrowman, Eve Myles, and Kai Owen are new cast members Mekhi Phifer, Bill Pullman, and Alexa Havins. Dollhouse star Dichen Lachman has also been cast in a guest starring role.
Earlier today, the brand new @BBC_Torchwood Twitter account was launched on the first day of filming. Here’s their very first tweet:
Day 1. First shot 8:01am. Coffee pots are bottomless today.
They also reported later in the day that star John Barrowman was en route to the set, and that Mekhi Phifer was filming scenes.
I don’t know about you, but besides the upcoming season of BBC’s Being Human, Torchwood: Miracle Day is what I’m most excited about this year! But its debut is still a long way off … the ten-part season hits the tube July 1st on both Starz and BBC One.
