Sons of Anarchy S6 Countdown: Kurt Sutter

Only 2 more sleeps until the Sons of Anarchy Season 6 premiere! And we all know that this show would not be here without its talented and ballsy showrunner and creator, Kurt Sutter.

In this awesome clip, Sutter chats about some of the dominating themes and storylines in the upcoming season. Before diving right into the video, here are some key points (warning – extreme spoilerphobes may want to tread lightly):

– Season 6 begins between 3-5 days after the Season 5 finale. Sutter said that he wanted there to be some time for the events that took place to register emotionally with the characters.
– They’re going to explore how Jax is affected by Tara’s arrest.
– We are going to see what Clay going to prison looks like.
– When asked about threats to SAMCRO, Sutter shared that it’s an internal struggle for Jax in terms of his actions and external threats coming down on the club as a result of those. Jax will be dealing with the ramifications of what he’s done.
– Gemma and Nero’s relationship will continue to grow this season. When Gemma decides to love someone, she loves them big. She needs that in her life and embraces it. Sutter mused that this is one of the hopeful themes on the show, if there is anything hopeful in all of that darkness.
– They’ll be dealing with the aftermath of Pope’s execution on several different fronts: what is going on with Clay; the relationship between August Marks and Jax; and what it continues to mean for Tig.
– Although Jax may have wanted to leave the club, this is never going to happen. There is always something that will keep him in, whether conscious or unconscious. In Season 6, he’s going to be working on his balancing act, i.e. whether he can have it all – be a father and a husband while moving the club in a more legitimate direction, and attempting to succeed in accomplishing what his father wasn’t able to.
– Clay is in prison and there’s no magic reprieve for him. At the time of this interview, Sutter shared that they were breaking episode 610 and Clay was still inside.

Are you ready to welcome back Sons of Anarchy? The Season 6 premiere airs this Tuesday, September 10 at 10pm ET/PT on FX in the US and on Super Channel in Canada.
