Epic Fantasy Comes to MTV with The Shannara Chronicles

Tonight is the highly anticipated debut of The Shannara Chronicles, MTV’s first foray into Game of Thrones-like epic fantasy. If you haven’t heard about the series yet, here’s the official logline from MTV:

The Shannara Chronicles is a new TV series based on the best-selling fantasy novels by Terry Brooks. Set thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization, the story follows an Elven Princess, Amberle, a half-human half-elf, Wil, and a human, Eretria, as they embark on a quest to stop a Demon army from destroying the Four Lands.

The ambitious project was filmed in New Zealand, tapping into the production infrastructure created by Peter Jackson and Weta Workshop.

To help you get ready for tonight’s series premiere, we have video from San Diego Comic-Con last summer. The clips feature: stars Ivana Baquero (Eretria), Austin Butler (Wil), Poppy Drayton (Amberle), Manu Bennett (Allanon) and John Rhys-Davies (Eventine Elessedil);  executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar; and the author of the books that the series is based on, Terry Brooks.

Check out the clips below, and watch The Shannara Chronicles tonight at 10/9c on MTV, and at 10e/7p on MTV Canada.
