Friday, on the next new episode of Family Law, the firm is engaged by Ellie (Krystal Nausbaum) and Levi (Dylan Harman), a couple with Down Syndrome, to help prevent the province from taking custody of their due-any-day daughter. That pits them against a crown attorney (Van Helsing‘s Rukiya Bernard) engaged by a mystery concerned party.
Daniel agrees to take the case as a pro bono, and Harry assigns Abby as his second. That pairs her with Lucy and Cecil (Brett Kelly) as they evaluate whether the young couple would be capable parents.
While observing them and asking the big questions, the sisters face their own parenting challenges. Abby’s still angling for some sort of way in with Sofia, while Nico is overly loving but keeping some important truths to himself. Lucy, meanwhile, keeps avoiding conversations with her wife, Maggie (Ali Liebert) about choosing a sperm donor for her pregnancy.
And the extra layer of all those existential crises is Abby’s own relationship, or lack thereof, with Harry, which comes to a head as Daniel’s girlfriend, Danielle (Street Legal‘s Yvonne Chapman), plans the firm’s new, more evolved, PR presence.
Jordan Canning directs a script by series creator Susin Nielsen.
