Demon Slaying Wynonna Earp Coming to Syfy in 2016

She’s a cowgirl … on a steel horse she rides … killing demons?

Syfy has announced the acquisition of Wynonna Earp, a new TV series based on IDW Comic by Beau Smith and adapted for the small screen by Emily Andras (Lost Girl, Killjoys).

If you haven’t heard about Wynonna Earp before, it’s “a fast-paced, contemporary thriller that follows Wyatt Earp’s great granddaughter as she battles demons and other supernatural beings. Wynonna is a witty and wild modern-day gunslinger, using her unique abilities and a dysfunctional posse of allies to bring the paranormal to justice.”

Melanie Scrofano (Damien, The Listener, Gangland Undercover) has been cast in the titular role. Tim Rozon (Lost Girl, Being Human) is set to play Doc Holliday, and Shamier Anderson (Defiance, Constantine) is portraying the mysterious Agent Dolls. Andras will serve as Executive Producer and Showrunner.

Andras was quoted as saying, “Together with SEVEN24 Films, IDW Entertainment, and a virtual dream cast, I’m confident we have something special on our hands: a female-led supernatural series with grand themes of redemption, honor, and the struggle to define good vs. evil. Not to mention, a kickass biker babe fighting demon outlaws.”

Production begins in Calgary this August. The 13-episode first season is set to premiere in April 2016.
