For the past couple of months, when anyone has asked me what series I am most looking forward to this summer, I’ve had to suggest Showcase’s newest addition to the “Women Who Kick Butt” genre, Continuum.
In case you haven’t heard about this one yet, here’s what you need to know going in:
Continuum is a one-hour police drama centered on Kiera Cameron, a regular cop from 65 years in the future who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver. She is alone, a stranger in a strange land, and has eight of the most ruthless criminals from the future, known as Liber8, loose in the city.
Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of chatting with Continuum‘s star Rachel Nichols – who you might also recognize from Alias and Criminal Minds – at a press junket in Toronto, and she shared some insight into the series and her character, Kiera, which you can watch in this video:
The first two episodes were directed by the insanely talented Jon Cassar, and it definitely has a 24 vibe to it (not to mention a 24 star, Roger R. Cross). If you still need a bit more arm twisting to tune in tonight, watch this 3 minute sneak preview:
At this point, Continuum is only airing in Canada on Showcase, but I’ve heard that there is some interest from US networks. We’ll keep you posted.
The series premiere of Continuum is tonight at 9pm only on Showcase!

I really want to watch it in the US. I was hoping netflix would have it but it seems they don’t. Fingers crossed a US network picks it up!
