Caffeine – October 2nd Edition

Happy Sunday! And we’re off to the races: The first of the new fall shows to be picked up for a full season was, unsurprisingly, New Girl. But Starz has such faith in Boss that they’re giving it a second season even though it hasn’t premiered yet. (None of the new shows have been cancelled. Yet.)

The Chuck and Grimm premiere dates have been pushed back a week, to October 28. Doesn’t sound like this is a reason for alarm – they wanted to be able to market Grimm with a Halloween connection.

NBC has ordered two more episodes of Parenthood, bringing the season up to 18.

If you can’t wait for Season Two of The Walking Dead, check out the new webisodes.

Fans of various flavors of supernatural dramas, get excited: Eric Kripke, Chris Carter, Kevin Williamson, and Carlton Cuse all have new shows in the works.

Terry O’Quinn will be on even more Hawaii Five-0.

Rob Schneider’s family comedy will be coming to CBS at midseason, which is good news for me since I love Diana Maria Riva.

Dillon Casey has become a regular on Nikita.

ESPN is trying to get into the scripted TV business again.

Pilot-buying season is still going strong, so let’s get an update there:

The CW keeps trying to find a legal drama. They’ve also got something that sounds like Men in Black set at a cosmetics company, which is … a very CW premise, if you think about it.

ABC has long distance relationships, another British sitcom adaptation, a female FBI agent who’s good at disguises, puzzles, a multi-generational comedy, a jailhouse lawyer, a disgraced financier, and some time travel.

CBS is looking at cleaning up the food supply, a former president, and an attention-loving detective.

FOX has a family comedy, people whose marriages ended in scandal, long-lost brothers, more siblings reconnecting, an epidemiologist, a P.I./prison drama, yet another Western, fathers and teen sons, and something based on This American Life.

Meanwhile, NBC likes a woman who thinks she’s channeling God, a Valley of the Dolls adaptation, cops in Shanghai, vets, corporate retreats, Dane Cook, Westerns and Sean Hayes, and Elmore Leonard.

TBS has a Vince Vaughn/Steve Byrne bar comedy.
