Caffeine – May 30th Edition

Hello and sorry for the delay! The Memorial Day holiday threw me off this weekend. Here’s your latest dose of TV news.

This week’s huge news: Chris Meloni has left Law & Order: SVU. I’ve only seen an episode or two of that show, and even I know this is a big deal.

Showtime has renewed The Borgias and Nurse Jackie but cancelled United States of Tara.

Criminal Minds shake-up: Rachel Nichols is leaving and Paget Brewster is coming back.

Jon Hamm will direct the season five premiere of Mad Men.

The people behind Camelot and The Tudors are making a show about Vikings. Awesome. In similarly exciting historical TV news, FOX and FX are both developing shows about pirates.

Saffron Burrows has left The Finder. No word on a replacement yet.

Dexter continues to cast for season six. Now on the show: Billy Brown, Edward James Olmos.

Sons of Anarchy adds LaMonica Garrett, Rockmond Dunbar, and Fernanda Andrade.

ABC and the Better With You co-execs are developing a sitcom based on the book My Formerly Hot Life.

Frances Conroy and Alexandra Breckenridge have joined American Horror Story, playing … ghosts of the same woman at different ages? I think? Huh. I love them both but I still won’t watch another Ryan Murphy show.

Christoph Sanders is now a regular on Last Man Standing.

Guest stars!

Shiri Appleby, Joanna Gleason, & David Rasche to Royal Pains.

Tiffani Thiessen’s husband, Brady Smith, to White Collar.

Rebecca Mader to Covert Affairs.

James van der Beek to Law & Order: CI.

Danny Glover to Psych.
