Caffeine – May 22nd Edition

It’s been a huge week for TV news, primarily new fall schedules for the networks, which we’re posting separately. (Three are up already, and the other two will be appearing soon.) But let’s see what other news has broken this week …

Lisa Edelstein is leaving House. Wow.

Late Friday night, there was some Supernatural-related hubbub, so let me try to break it down for you: Earlier in the week, The CW issued a press release that listed Misha Collins as a season regular for next season. After Friday’s season finale, news broke that he wouldn’t be. People got angry. The upshot seems to be that Collins will definitely appear next season, but it’s not clear how many episodes he’ll be in.

Seth MacFarlane is rebooting The Flintstones. I’m not quite sure what to make of this, so I’m just throwing it out there.

Over at Fairly Legal, Michael Sardo has stepped down as showrunner and will be replaced by Peter Ocko. Presumably this is part of the creative retooling they’ve promised. I will repeat that my prescription for this show is simple: More shirtless Michael Trucco.

In case you were worried about this: Mariska Hargitay has finally officially signed on for more SVU. But Jennifer Love Hewitt may replace her at some point. Huh.

TVLand premiere dates: Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced start June 15.

Not to be outdone by the, uh, real networks, TNT and TBS have announced development slates. I’ll update you more on these shows once any of them actually get a premiere date or anything. Oh, but one thing of note: They’re making a spinoff of The Closer starring Mary McDonnell (formerly of BSG).
