Caffeine – May 15th Edition

Happy Sunday and welcome to a special evening, pre-upfronts version of “Caffeine”. The networks will be officially announcing their fall schedules at the upfront presentations this week, so tons of news about pickups and cancellations has been leaking out. As each network makes it official, we’ll give you a summary of what will – and won’t – be on your TV this fall. In the meantime, here are a few other bits of news from this week …

And really, that means most of our news is about casting. Let’s get this one out of the way first: Ashton Kutcher is your new Charlie Sheen.

But in news I actually care about: Matt Lauria will guest star and may recur on the upcoming season of Burn Notice. Oh please oh please can we keep him? Fringe has promoted Seth Gabel to series regular status. Mos Def and Colin Hanks will both be on Dexter next season.

Guest stars! Adam Arkin will be on The Closer. Lena Headey and Ernie Hudson are headed to White Collar. That wrestler who was on Royal Pains will also be on Burn Notice.

I don’t meant to sound uncharitable, but it seems that most Gossip Girl fans are rather happy to hear that neither Taylor Momsen nor Jessica Szohr will be regulars next season.

On the other hand, Shemar Moore will return to Criminal Minds, and Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps have both reupped with House.

Falling Skies hasn’t even premiered, but TNT is already thinking about a second season.

That’s all for now, but check back all this week for news from the upfronts!
