Caffeine – December 23rd Edition

We have a surprising amount of TV news for you this week, given that it’s practically a holiday week. (Let’s hope next week will be lighter!) Happy holidays!

The penultimate episode of season three of Haven was pulled because it dealt with violence at a school and was scheduled to air on the day of the Newtown shooting. Rather than skipping it and just airing the finale, they pulled that too, and the episodes will air back to back on January 17. I’m happy about this both because I hate seeing things (especially serialized things) out of order and because this gives me time to catch up on recaps before the finale. I will, I swear!

Premiere dates:
March 3: Vikings

ABC is pulling 666 Park Ave from the schedule for the time being, and new episodes of Happy Endings and Apt 23 will air in its place on January 6th. It sounds like they’re going to air the rest of 666 Park over the summer.

This has not yet been confirmed, but it looks like How I Met Your Mother is getting a ninth season.

The Walking Dead has been renewed for season four, but showrunner Glen Mazzara is stepping down.

Also renewed: Psych, The League, See Dad Run.

Cancelled: Leverage (the series finale will air on Christmas Day), The L.A. Complex (again, in the U.S. this time).

USA did not pick up Over/Under, but they’re airing the pilot on January 4.

Next season’s episodes of Game of Thrones will be a little longer.

Amazon has ordered six pilots.
FX: Animated comedy Chosen
Showtime: A Vatican drama directed by Ridley Scott

ABC has a family comedy from Ben Stiller and a Michael Ian Black comedy.
