BSG’s Bamber Back in Sci-Fi on BBC’s Outcasts

The other day while skimming my Twitter feed, I came across a tweet from @ProgGrrl that captured my attention … about a new BBC sci-fi series called Outcasts, and one of the cast members just happens to be Battlestar Galactica‘s Jamie Bamber.

Yesterday, I spotted a press release from the BBC Press Office, which included this synopsis of the series:

A diverse group of individuals – led by President Tate (Liam Cunningham) with his core team of Stella (Hermione Norris), Cass (Daniel Mays) and Fleur (Amy Manson) – left their old lives behind in extraordinary circumstances. Promised a second chance at life, they created a society far away from their home, friends and family … and their pasts. They took charge and settled here first alongside expeditionaries Mitchell (Jamie Bamber) and Jack (Ashley Walters).

Settled in the town of Forthaven on Carpathia, they are passionate about their jobs, confident of their ideals and optimistic about the future. They work hard to preserve what they’ve built on this planet they now call home, having embraced all the challenges that come with forging a new beginning. The planet offers the possibility for both corruption and redemption; whilst they try to avoid the mistakes made on Earth, inevitably our heroes cannot escape the human pitfalls of love, greed, lust, loss, and a longing for those they’ve left behind.

Have I caught your attention? How about checking out this clip:

Colour me intrigued. And let’s admit it, Bamber rocks a uniform so much better than those suits on Law & Order UK!

We don’t have a start date for Outcasts yet, but according to its official site, it’s “coming soon”. And for those of us in North America, based on that clip, let’s hope someone on this side of the pond picks it up!

  1. Outcasts will air on BBC America on Saturdays at 9pm, possibly as soon as February. It depends when Primeval ends it’s run in that time slot. Outcasts is scheduled to air on the BBC in early February.
