First Look at The Romeo Section Season 2

[Warning: General spoilers ahead]

We’re a week out from the second season premiere of CBC’s The Romeo Section, and it begins with Wolfgang starting a new mission at the behest of a shadowy senior operative named Harry, entirely different from last season but no less timely.

While that’s the front burner, last season isn’t entirely washed away. Rufus has further embedded himself into the heroin trade, and is already reaching beyond his grasp for the next big thing. Newly minted agent Lily (a recast Leeah Wong) is navigating that role and awaiting her first formal assignment from Al. Tony finally has his movie off the ground, but in a surprise to no one, his budget isn’t a sure thing.

On the new character front, we pick up Canadian favorite Brian Markinson braving bold new territory as Norman, an acquaintance of Wolfgang’s who’s never met anyone or anything of which he couldn’t or didn’t eagerly partake.

Laci J. Mailey, who you might recognize from Hallmark Channel’s new series Chesapeake Shores, is Sonya, a heavily medicated mental patient who may be helpful to Wolfgang and Norman’s investigation.

And that’s about all you need to know to start. The show hits the ground running with the same fantastic vibe intact. There’s a little more walking and talking right out of the gate, but it’s a fun nod to Da Vinci’s Inquest, which did the same now and again, and I’m never going to turn that down.

The Romeo Section returns Wednesday, October 5th at 9:00/9:30NT on CBC. If you missed an episode, or didn’t get on board last year (why??), you can catch all of Season 1 now on CBC.ca. Here are a few sneak peeks of what to expect in Season 2.

Note: I’m visiting the set this weekend, so look for conversations with showrunner Chris Haddock and the cast in the coming weeks.
