Slasher downshifts this week with an expository episode about how Ariel came to be where she is, and it spends a considerable amount of time with the one who put her there.
These types of stories are always deeply disturbing because they’re trafficking in real, everyday monsters. The saving grace from the potential nausea here is that in this case, you’re actually rooting for The Executioner to catch up to Vaughn. But that’s tempered by our hope that when he does, somebody still knows to go check his basement.
While that’s going on, Sarah goes to see Tom and sets him straight on what he supposes to be true, and Dylan works the angles to chart his future beyond the current headlines.
It’s a much quieter, suspenseful hour than we’ve had, and much more character-focused. That’s a nice change of pace before we get to the final two episodes.
Slasher airs at 9/8c on Fridays Chiller in the U.S. and begins this week at the same time in Canada on Super Channel. Melissa confirmed last night at the Canadian premiere that Canadian viewers will benefit from extra footage in each episode because Super Channel is subscriber-based. Lucky bastards!
