Previewing Pretty Hard Cases Season 3

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Wednesday night on CBC, Pretty Hard Cases is back for Season 3, picking up eight months after Sam was demoted to a uniform. During the time lapse, she’s been partnered with a familiar face and pining for her old desk and her old team. Kelly, meanwhile, has been undercover, ingratiating herself to a criminal’s fiancee, played by Rookie Blue alumni Priscilla Faia. Kelly’s also become an auntie with the arrival of Karina’s son, and her personal and professional life intersect in her new assignment.

Sam’s home life has switched up, too, bringing with it a new friendship that empowers her, to a point. At work, she can’t quite get past the dismissive tone of the (latest) new unit commander, Gloria (Wendy Crewson), who has zero time or tolerance for an interloper.

Thankfully, Edwina (Karen Robinson) is running things upstairs as the newly installed superintendent.

Also, thankfully, Kelly and Sam find their way back together pretty quickly, as partners, and besties. Which is good news when they have some things to sort through that they couldn’t hit each other up about during their time apart. The rest of the band is back together, too, with all our OCE regulars returning.
