Caffeine – September 23rd Edition

Happy Emmy Day! I’ll be liveblogging tonight right here at TheTelevixen.com, starting with the red carpet at 6/5c. But first, we have tons of news . . .

Shameless, House of Lies, and Californication will return on January 13. The final season of Flashpoint will premiere in the U.S. on October 16.

Treme has been renewed for a shortened fourth and final season.

Royal Pains is going to air a special December TV movie about Evan and Paige’s wedding. Wheee!

Also renewed: Army Wives.

ABC is reviving Super Fun Night and recasting two of the leads. They’re using the word “funcomfortable,” so I hate it already.

In development:
ABC has an immigrant family comedy, a Ron Moore adaptation of A Knight’s Tale (this does not SEEM to be a joke), comedy Party Girls, a steampunk drama, actor comedy Please Knock from Ben Stiller, The Notorious Mollie Flowers from same, mom comedy Middle Age Rage, a David Shore legal drama, an adaptation of British comedy Pulling, a Josh Friedman family drama, a beauty empire family soap, and comedy Fat, Forty and Fired.
ABC Family bought two comedies and a terminal illness drama, to fill your quota of emotional whiplash.
CBS has comedies Friends With Better Lives and Wake Up Call, a north/south legal drama, scifi procedural Intelligence, a cancer research drama, and a Jim Gaffigan comedy.
The CW has a high school alien drama, a modern Alice in Wonderland procedural, and supernatural drama Embrace.
FOX has a modern political drama based on Hamlet. Intriguing. Also: a comedy about a man wanting to settle down, a Zooey Deschanel sister comedy, a live (!) family comedy, a comedy about men moving in with their adult sons, a Chelsea Handler family comedy (um?), a superhero police drama, an FBI drama, a playdate comedy, a startup comedy, and a CIA family adventure series.
FX has a murder/cover-up thriller and a vampire drama from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse.
HBO has a Guillermo del Toro series about a 1950s housewife solving crimes and Criminal Justice pilot starring James Gandolfini.
NBC has a drama from Alfonso Cuaron and J.J. Abrams, an adaptation of comic Midnight, Mass., a military comedy, a comedy from Ellen DeGeneres, a workplace comedy about an assistant, a comedy from Bill Lawrence and Ali Wentworth, and spy drama M.I.C.E.
USA Network has an Elmore Leonard drama.

Trisha Rae Stahl has been promoted to recurring on Glee. And Don Stark has been promoted to series regular on Bounce.
