Caffeine – March 6th Edition

Happy Sunday! We’ve got some exciting renewals and guest star news for you this week, along with tons more pilot casting. Grab your coffee and get ready …

Excited about Game of Thrones? HBO will show a 15-minute sneak peek on April 3.

Bad news: If you’re one of the very few people watching The Cape, you’ll have to watch the last episode online.

Hey, Vampire Diaries fans! Steven Amell (Brady) has joined Hung, along with Leven Rambin.

Renewed: How I Met Your Mother, for two seasons. Also renewed: Hot in Cleveland, Shameless and Episodes. Showtime has also announced some premiere dates for Weeds, The Big C, and more.

Josh Holloway will guest star on the season finale of Community! More exciting guest stars: Gary Cole is returning to Chuck; Liz Vassey to Castle; John Stamos and Terrence Howard to SVU; Enrique Murciano will be on NCIS.

Breaking In, which premieres in April, has added Michael Rosenbaum as a regular. This is the new Christian Slater show, so I am obliged to mention yet again that I miss The Forgotten.

Gangster Bugsy Siegel will appear on Boardwalk Empire, in the person of Michael Zegen. Also joining the cast: Heather Lind.

Summer show Rizzoli & Isles is adding some new characters, but it doesn’t sound like they’re cast yet.

HBO is doing a comedy pilot with Ed Burns about a bunch of friends turning forty.

The Ashley Judd and Jenna Elfman news from last week is now definite.

Tons more pilot casting for you this week. Soon every actor in Hollywood will be cast in something and these columns will get less ridiculously long. One hopes.

17th Precinct adds James Callis and Tricia Helfer. The BSG reunion here is getting a little ridiculous. Also: Matt Long, fondly remembered by the three of us who watched The Deep End.

The Assistants adds Emily Rutherford.

Awakening will star Lucy Griffiths.

Bent will star David Walton.

Chicks and Dicks (is that the real title now?) casts Hannah Simone.

Cooper and Stone will star Alex Breckenridge.

Council of Dads adds Kyle Bornheimer.

The Crossing will star Rachelle LeFevre and Martin Henderson, so apparently NBC doesn’t think ABC will bring back Off the Map. Also cast: Bill Sage.

Damage Control adds Jeff Perry, otherwise known as Meredith Grey’s dad. Also: Darby Stanchfield and Liza Weil. (Yay for Weil!)

Family Album casts Damaris Diaz.

Georgetown will star Katie Cassidy. This is going to be a really pretty show. Also cast: Daisy Betts.

Good Christian Bitches adds Miriam Shor, Leslie Bibb and Annie Potts.

Grace will star Sherri Saum and Abigail Spencer. Also cast: Anabelle Acosta.

Hail Mary adds Enrique Murciano and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Hart of Dixie will star Jaime King.

Heavenly will star Ben Aldridge, and gets showrunner Rob Doherty.

Home Game adds Ken Marino.

Home Grown (which may be getting a new name?) will star Becki Newton. This doesn’t exactly bode well for Newton’s Love Bites.

House of Cards will star and be produced by Kevin Spacey.

How to Be a Gentleman gets an executive producer in Adam Chase and casts Rhys Darby.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter adds Jaime Pressly.

Iceland casts Krysta Rodriguez.

Identity adds Jay Paulson and Angela Bassett.

Little in Common adds Gabrielle Union.

A Mann’s World adds Caitlin Crosby, Amanda Warren, Kelly Hu, Sandra Vergara, and J.R. Bourne.

My Freakin’ Family will star Ellen Woglom, Ravi Patel, and Christopher Rich.

Once Upon a Time will feature Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White. Also cast: Lana Parrilla.

Other People’s Kids will star Jesse Bradford.

Over/Under will star Steven Pasquale.

Pan Am will star Christina Ricci.

Person of Interest will star Taraji P. Henson and James Caviezel.

Playboy will star Jeff Hephner. Yes, his name sounds like “Hefner.” Also cast: Wes Ramsey.

Poe will star Chris Egan. Honestly, I LOVE Chris Egan, but he doesn’t look much like Poe, does he? Hmm. Also, Tabrett Bethell has joined the cast.

Prime Suspect will star Aidan Quinn. Also added: Kirk Acevedo, Tim Griffin, Joe Nieves.

Revenge will star Nick Wechsler.

The River will star Joe Anderson. Bruce Greenwood will play his father.

S.I.L.A. adds Danny Pino, Daniella Alonso and Matthew Levy.

Smash, which seems like it’s going to have the biggest cast ever, has added Anjelica Huston.

Smothered adds Marcia Gay Harden.

Suburgatory casts Allie Grant.

Switched at Birth has added Marlee Matlin (yay!) as a recurring guest star and made Sean Berdy a regular.

Tagged adds Robin Givens.

Two Broke Girls will star Beth Behrs.

Weekends at Bellevue adds Amber Stevens, Janet McTeer, and Lauren Ambrose.

Wonder Woman adds Elizabeth Hurley (!), Tracie Thomas, Cary Elwes (!!), and Pedro Pascal.

Work It adds Rebecca Mader.

That untitled show about a family of doctors will have Andrew J. West in the lead. Also cast: Jean Smart.

The untitled Whitney Cummings show adds Zoe Lister-Jones.

Sarah Paulson – one of my favorites – will star in another of those as-yet-untitled comedies.

That show about the detective who remembers everything will star Poppy Montgomery.

Another untitled drama will star Jennifer Ehle. Elizabeth Bennet! Whee!

Rob Schneider’s untitled pilot adds Nadine Velazquez, Tony Plana, and Lupe Ontiveros.

Another untitled comedy that sounds kind of like Sports Night will star Danny Comden.
