Ava DuVernay’s Central Park Five Series Adds Five New Cast Members

Five new cast members have joined Ava DuVernay’s Central Park Five: Niecy Nash, Kylie Bunbury, Storm Reid, Aunjanue Ellis and Marsha Stephanie Blake.

Based on the true story of five Harlem teens convicted of a rape they did not commit — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise — Central Park Five will be released on Netflix in 2019. It spans from 1989, when they were first questioned, to their 2014 exoneration and settlement. DuVernay is writing and directing the four episode limited series.

Emmy nominee Niecy Nash (Getting On, Claws) is Delores Wise, mother of Korey Wise. Kylie Bunbury (Pitch) is Angie Richardson, sister of Kevin Richardson. Storm Reid, who starred in DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time earlier this year, is playing Lisa, a friend of Korey Wise. Aunjanue Ellis (Quantico, Designated Survivor) plays Sharone Salaam, mother of Yusef Salaam. Marsha Stephanie Blake (Orange Is the New Black, Getting On) is Antron McCray’s mother, Linda.

Previously announced cast includes Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Felicity Huffman, Jharrel Jerome and Jovan Adepo.
