Caffeine – TV News – April 17th Edition

In this week’s TV news update, we’ve got summer premieres, lots of renewals, and more! A scheduling note: because of a family commitment, Caffeine will take a one-week break. I’ll catch you up on two weeks’ worth of news on May 1st!

Premiere dates:
June 19th: The Jim Gaffigan Show
June 23rd: Thirteen
June 26th: Impastor
July 1st: Marco Polo
July 22nd: Degrassi: Next Class
November 4th: The Crown

Renewed: Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce (for THREE seasons), New Girl, Degrassi: Next Class (also for three seasons!), Fear the Walking Dead, Man Seeking Woman, When Calls the Heart, Saints and Sinners, Mann and Wife, Family Time, In the Cut

It looks like Fox has taken Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life off the schedule, so not an official cancellation, but it’s not looking good.

Episodes will end with season five.

Josh Charles will reportedly return for the series finale of The Good Wife, though this has not been officially confirmed.

Ian Somerhalder said The Vampire Diaries will end with season 8, but then walked it back. No official decision has been made.

Game of Thrones may do shortened final seasons, but again, nothing official.

Daredevil‘s Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez will showrun Marvel’s The Defenders.

Dee Rees and Tommy Schlamme will each direct two episodes of When We Rise.

Tanya Saracho will showrun Pour Vida.
