Wendy Crewson Star Trek Discovery

There has been a flurry of Star Trek: Discovery casting news, and we can tell you exclusively that Wendy Crewson has joined the series.

Crewson excitedly shared the news with us on the red carpet during Canadian Screen Week in Toronto, where she won “Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program or Series” for her role on Slasher.

Here is a clip of Crewson telling us about her role:

Crewson will be playing an Admiral, so she’s one of the big bosses in the Star Trek universe. (She didn’t mention her character’s name, but we’ll keep you posted.) She mentioned that she’s thrilled to be a part of a show that is shaping up to have some excellent, powerful female roles, which includes Lt. Cmdr Rainsford as played by Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead, The Good Wife), and Captain Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh (Marco Polo, Strike Back).

Earlier today, it was announced that Rainn Wilson joined the cast of Star Trek: Discovery as villain Harry Mudd. Other cast members announced to date include Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Maulik Pancholy, James Frain, and Anthony Rapp. The series is being produced in Toronto and premiere on CBS in the U.S. with subsequent episodes making their debut on CBS All Access, the network’s live and SVOD service. In Canada, the premiere will air on CTV, and you’ll find subsequent episodes on Space and SVOD CraveTV.

Wendy Crewson is currently playing Dr. Dana Kinney in the final season of Saving Hope, and has a guest arc on Workin’ Moms.
