USA’s Mr. Robot Casts Portia Doubleday & Carly Chaikin

Portia Doubleday and Carly Chaikin have been cast in USA Network’s cyber-crime drama pilot, Mr. Robot. They join Rami Malek, who has been cast in the lead role of Elliot.

Here’s the character info from the press release:

Doubleday plays Angela, the pragmatic old childhood friend of Elliot (Malek) and an account executive at the AllSafe Cyber Security firm. She is the one person who Elliot will open up to.

Chaikin will take on the role of Marlene, the chain-smoking striking hipster who also happens to be an expert at writing malicious malware  —  specifically, dangerous computer worms that take down entire networks.

Mr. Robot is about a young computer geek who suffers from a debilitating social disorder and decides that the best way to communicate with people is to hack into their computers. Of course, that alone would be boring, so Elliot finds himself caught between the cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations that are recruiting him to bring down corporate America.

So that sounds kinda promising. It feels like USA is going for a CW vibe with this one. I like it!

About Christina

Christina came into her geekiness late in life. Well, later than normal people do anyway. She has her brother to thank for that, although he's probably the biggest not-geek she knows. "Watch The Eleventh Hour," he told her. She did, and she hasn't looked back since.
