The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco Preview “Iron in War”

On tonight’s new The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, last week’s mystery concludes with the ladies working to save Edward after unearthing a much larger conspiracy inside the police department.

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

When they take a closer look at the coding in the classifieds, they realize a simple accident set in motion the series of beatings and Edward’s assault and arrest. Millie confronts Bill Bryce, and he responds in a surprisingly helpful way.

Determined to stop the beatings and shut down the corruption, the group sets up a sting. In addition to just doing the right thing, Millie is also trying to atone for her childhood misdeeds against Edward.

Hailey and Iris move forward on rehabbing the code machine, and Hailey has a heart-to-heart with Iris about how Edward’s situation resonates with her.

Iris also balances her son’s unlikely new friendship with her anxiety while she waits for her husband’s latest letter. The episode was written by Daegan Fryklind and directed by Alexandra La Roche, who also directed last week’s episode.

Look for some fantastic work from Chanelle Peloso and Crystal Balint as they navigate a discussion that’s still resonant more than 60 years later. There’s a neat casting wink with Peloso’s No One Would Tell co-star Matreya Scarrwener guest starring, too.

The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco airs at 8pm ET Fridays on CityTV.

The first five episodes are available online now at the network’s website and through your cable provider sign-in. The entire season is streaming on BritBox in the US. In case you missed it, our series preview is here.
