Yep, you heard that right! On March 17th, the United Nations and Sci Fi Network co-hosted an event in New York that discussed themes important to both Battlestar Galactica and the UN: human rights, terrorism, children and armed conflict, and reconciliation and dialogue among civilizations and faiths. Moderated by Whoopi Goldberg, the panel included Ronald D. Moore, David Eick, Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell.

Now, I’ve seen Edward James Olmos speak once before, and he’s a very compelling speaker, but this clip from the UN session really blew me away!

I bet no one ever imagined a resounding chorus of “So say we all” in the hallowed halls of the UN! And if anyone ever doubted the relevance of the themes in BSG to viewers and the human race, take a couple of hours to watch the full session HERE.
