Sweet Streams: Better Call Saul

Our latest Sweet Streams selection is Better Call Saul, now streaming on Netflix in both Canada and the U.S. A prequel to what is arguably one of the best series of all time, Breaking Bad, this series chronicles the rise of Saul Goodman.

Here is a trailer that was released before the first season:

Better Call Saul is the story of Jimmy McGill, the man who would become Albuquerque strip-mall lawyer extraordinaire — and Walter White’s consigliere — Saul Goodman. Bob Odenkirk stars as Jimmy/Saul, and Jonathan Banks reprises his role as Mike Ehrmantraut. In the two seasons currently streaming on Netflix, you will definitely recognize some other familiar faces. It also stars Michael McKean (Dream On, This is Spinal Tap) as Jimmy’s brother, Chuck, Rhea Seehorn (Franklin & Bash, Whitney) as Kim Wexler, Michael Mando (Orphan Black) as Nacho Varga, and Patrick Fabian (Big Love, Veronica Mars) as Howard Hamlin.

While Breaking Bad was a much heavier drama, Better Call Saul often ventures into more comedic territory. It is lighter in tone, but still delivers award-winning performances.

You might like this if you’re missing Breaking Bad, or if you’re a fan of underdog stories or dark comedies. It’s the perfect way to catch up in time for the Season 3 premiere on AMC this month, or if you want to rewatch before diving into the new season.
