Second Seasons of Cracked and King Return to Reelz Channel

Reelz Channel rolls out the second seasons of Canadian series Cracked and King for U.S. audiences this Monday night with back-to-back premieres starting at 10/9c.

On Cracked, there’s been a cast switch as Stefanie von Pfetten has departed and Brooke Nevin has joined the cast  alongside David Sutcliffe. Here’s what to expect in the second season premiere, “Swans” — After a masked gunman kidnaps a young woman from a locked psych ward, it becomes clear that the case is more complicated than it looks. Psych Crimes needs help from a new psychiatrist, Dr. Clara Malone (Nevin), before things spiral out of control in this thrilling tale of love on the run.

King will be an eye opener for folks who’ve started watching Reign this fall, as that show’s King Henry II, Alan Van Sprang, co-stars here as Detective Derek Spears (King aired on Showcase 2011-2012).  When the first season wrapped, Jessica King (Amy Price-Francis) had been promoted wt work, and at home had reconciled with her husband after a brief dalliance with Spears. Here’s what to expect in the premiere, “Alina Minkute” — Jessica risks her career and her unit when she connects the son of former Police Chief Fielding to human trafficking and the murder of a stripper.

Programming note: Cracked wrapped its eight-episode second earlier this fall on CBC in Canada, so we’re behind but at least in the same season. There’s no word yet on a third season. King was cancelled after two seasons on Showcase, but we have 13 new-to-the U.S. episodes to look forward to this spring before it wraps up.
