Private Eyes Preview: Boardwalk Empire

We’re a week out from Dark Matter‘s third season kickoff, but Anthony Lemke drops into this week’s Private Eyes to give us a little tease before his main gig resumes.

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Here Lemke plays Jack Sugar, a less-than-charitable developer who ends up on Shade and Angie’s radar when they’re working a case of tenants in a heritage building in The Beach who are being gaslighted one-by-one.

Over the course of working the case, they realize their client, Zoe (Samantha Wan), might actually be more useful to them than they to her. She also strikes the fancy of Mazhari (Ennis Esmer).

Don (Barry Flatman) gets pulled into the case, tangentially, to help rewire the ground floor café, and its owner helps him sort out how he feels about being offered a retirement package at work.

Angie follows up on that mystery key her Dad left her, and it and the accompanying note spark her to re-evaluate what she’s doing, and who for, and how best to honor his memory.

It’s a fun episode that finds Shade and Angie falling into their familiar rhythms, and getting gussied up to follow a lead. Cindy Sampson even gets to dance an unwilling tango with a very game Lemke. Eagle-eyed Haven fans will also spot showruner Shawn Piller’s Bernese Mountain Dog, Sloan, in the background of one of the scenes toward the end of the epsiode. Love that.

Private Eyes airs at 8/7c Thursdays on Global TV.

Updated 07/01/18: U.S. audiences can catch Season 2 at 9 pm/8c Sundays on ION Television. Here’s a sneak peek of “Boardwalk Empire,” which airs on ION tonight.
