Marvel’s Netflix series may not be new news but they’re continuing to make news as the 2015 titles, particularly Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones, are taking shape.
Back in December Marvel announced that everyone’s absolute favourite, Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Don’t Trust the B—-, Veronica Mars) would be fronting the series as the eponymous Jessica Jones. The ante was then upped when we discovered that Luke Cage was officially joining in, and got even better when Mike Colter (The Good Wife, American Horror Story: Coven) was assigned the role.
On Monday (Jan 26th), the day after Robbie Burns day, Marvel dropped the [infinity] gauntlet by announcing that Scottish actor, former Doctor and nerd favourite David Tennant would be joining the fray as the villain, Kilgrave.
This casting is great, it’s huge, but really, it’s the cherry on top of the female fronted series that also has a woman helming the ship with Melissa Rosenberg (Birds of Prey, Dexter, The OC) as executive producer and showrunner. It’s not a Black Widow movie, but it sure is something to get excited about.
A.K.A. Jessica Jones is a 13-episode series produced by Marvel Television for Netflix. Here’s a short series synopsis:
After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
