City, Netflix and shomi Partner on New Canadian Drama, Between

Today marks an exciting move in the Canadian TV production industry as City, Netflix and new streaming service shomi have partnered on a premium original drama series, Between.

According to the press release, “Between is the story of a town under siege from a mysterious disease that has wiped out everybody except those 21 years old and under. The series explores the power vacuum that results when a government has quarantined a 10-mile diameter area and left the inhabitants to fend for themselves.”

The thriller series is created by Michael McGowan (Still Mine, One Week, Saint Ralph) and stars Jennette McCurdy (iCarly, Sam & Cat). Emmy award winner Jon Cassar (24, The Kennedys) will direct the first two episodes.

The first season is six, one-hour episodes, and principal photography begins today.

Between will premiere on City and shomi in Canada, and on Netflix around the globe. It will air on Netflix Canada a year after the initial premiere.
