Well, we finally get another new episode of How I Met Your Mother this evening. Yay! So how did The Televixen treat her HIMYM withdrawal last week? With this fantastic Barney/Robin montage, entitled BRo Love:

After watching that clip, are you one of the people who wants to see Barney give up his wanton ways and settle down with what is shaping up to be “The One”, or are you still hoping that Robin and Ted end up together again (even though we already know she’s not the mother)? I have to say I’m going to be cheering on the BRoMance

Robin Scherbatsky, Old King Clancy, and Alan Thicke?

How I Met Your Mother has given us some really funny websites: Ted Mosby is a Jerk, Barney’s Video Resume, and now, Canadian Sex Acts.

In last night’s episode, “Old King Clancy”, Robin refers to this site when talking about a Canadian celebrity encounter she once had, then starts naming off some crazy Canadian – errrr – positions. Knowing HIMYM’s history of actually setting up these sites, curiosity got the better of me, and I had to check it out. And heck, I’m Canadian, I should be aware of this valuable cultural information!

After verifying that I was at least 18 years of age (or 23 in the Maritime Provinces), I checked out the Old King Clancy, and this is what popped up:

Alan Thicke?!? In fact, every Canadian sex act had an error message featuring Alan Thicke!

This isn’t the first time Thicke has been featured in HIMYM viral marketing. Remember Robin Sparkles’ video for “Sandcastles in the Sand”?

I could ask all of you what your fave HIMYM viral website has been so far, but I think it’d be more fun to ask what your favourite reference to Canadians has been so far. One of mine would have to be Robin referring to Bruce Springsteen as “America’s Bryan Adams”.

Another Musical TV Memory

You may recall that just over a month ago, I shared some of my Musical TV Memories. I realized tonight, while at a Bloc Party concert, that I’d forgotten one of my absolute fave moments!

I’ve adored Bloc Party’s tune “This Modern Love” from the first time I heard their debut album Silent Alarm. How thrilled was I when it was part of a pivotal scene in the first season of How I Met Your Mother. In case you don’t know which scene I’m talking about, HERE it is!

Now, I’m not going to ask you to share your musical TV memories again, but rather ask if you have ever rushed out and purchased a tune solely because you heard it on a TV show?

A Salute to My Youth and Doogie Howser, MD

I admit it – I had the BIGGEST crush on NPH’s character Doogie Howser when I was a kid. He was everything 13-year old me wanted in a boy. He was brainy, cute, and had a computer (which I could only dream about for another 10 years).

Two decades later, I am still a fan of Neil Patrick Harris. I adore How I Met Your Mother. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog was a definite highlight of 2008. It’s only right, that things have come full circle.

In Saturday night’s Digital Short, NPH and the entire SNL cast paid tribute to Doogie Howser, MD in an elaborate orchestral rendition of the theme song. For a brief moment, I recaptured my youth, and giggled like a 13-year old. In case you missed it, here’s the clip:

Brilliance! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, NPH and SNL! You made my weekend.

2008 – The Year of Neil Patrick Harris

It’s official – this is the year of NEIL PATRICK HARRIS!

While checking out recent article links on Whedonesque this morning, I stumbled across a YouTube video, featuring two of my favourite things – Neil Patrick Harris, and SHOES!

NPH appeared as “The Fairy Shoe Person” in a song and dance number on an episode of Sesame Street. And it’s fabulous! (Suck on that Feist! You and your “1,2,3,4” song number on Sesame Street can’t hold a candle to NPH singing about shoes!)

NPH is having quite the year, and I think I have a renewed love for musical numbers based on his performances in this Sesame Street clip and in Dr. Horrible. Come this fall, he may take home an Emmy for his awe-some portrayal of Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother. Who’s joining me in my declaration of 2008 being the year of NPH?
