Brad Wright Talks Travelers Season 2 Finale Reveals

[Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Season 2 finale. Read AFTER you watch.]

Travelers Season 2 hit Netflix three weeks ago, and if our comment section is any indication, y’all loved every minute of it! When I chatted with showrunner and series creator Brad Wright last month, we talked about some of those big finale reveals. Here’s what he had to say.

[Warning: Seriously. Spoilers for the Season 2 finale.]

One of the “who/what/when/how” sequences that got me was when exactly Dr. Perrow stopped being Dr. Perrow. Wright says the last time we see her is when she’s face-to-face with Vincent, which means that it’s Vincent-as-Perrow interrogating the team’s loved ones. “If you watch it again, Amanda [Tapping] does a brilliant job indicating that she’s Vincent the entire time she’s doing the interviews,” he explains.

“[When] he’s looking at the videos of his son, he’s [still] in there at that point. When he tells [Perrow], ‘There’s only one more thing I want you to do,’ [he takes over her consciousness.] Every one of her interviews, that is Vincent.  Vincent’s plan is to sneak into Perrow, confess that he’s done these terrible things and then go on camera and allow the Director to take him.”

“That’s what he says to MacLaren. The new arrival [at the end of the episode] is [sent by] the Director and goes into an empty body. Now there’s a new Traveler walking around in [Enrico Colantoni]’s body.” What happens from there is TBD in Season 3 (we hope).

Wright says that in all the “001” scenes of Simon in the lab with Vincent, Vincent is never there, but Simon is actually working on the machine. “[Each of the conversations is] a hallucination, which was set up in the previous episode. Simon is getting [the machine] ready for the next time Vincent wants it,” he points out. As for where the “new” Vincent leaves Simon and the machine, we’ll have to wait for Season 3.

Looking back at the flashbacks of Marcy with Vincent in the hospital, Wright clarifies that Vincent didn’t know Marcy would later be a Traveler, but working that arc into her background helped with two plot threads. “It is a bit of coincidence,” he shares. “It makes sense to a certain extent. I didn’t have to make Marcy one of those people [that Vincent experimented on, but] Marcy’s condition when we meet her, and there being no record of her, [meant] someone had to have expunged her record and so I just made that Vincent.”

In Canada, you can catch the last two episodes of Season 2 of Travelers on Showcase’s website, and all of Season 1 and 2 on iTunes. In the U.S., you can find Season 1 and 2 on Netflix. Click here for all of our Season 2 previews and interviews.
