Eddie McClintock Lets His Geeky Side Shine!

Eddie McClintock, who plays Warehouse 13‘s Pete Lattimer, had a Q&A session with the fans at the March Hobbystar Toronto ComiCon (presented by FanExpo). He let his geeky side out to play and here’s a sampling of that session.

How do you like filming in Toronto?
I grew up in Canton, Ohio so there’s a love/hate relationship the climate that swings from wind chill to humid and hot, but the hardest part is leaving my family.

Torontonians are great. I love that we can be in different parts of the world like Paris or New York City, plus you have great Indian food.

What’s your favourite artifact so far on Warehouse 13?
The favourite one is Abe Lincoln’s Hat, which, when Pete put it on he had the uncontrollable urge to free Mrs. Frederic. It was a smart joke that shows that society is moving in the right direction.

What artifact would you like to have if it worked?
The Janis Joplin Woodstock backstage pass – the one which let you into any concert that’s ever been. Although having to chug a bottle of Jack Daniels to get back wouldn’t be good.

How has Pete evolved?
Pete’s growth is best seen in his relationship with Myka. She has learned to trust Pete and Pete has taken responsibility yet maintains his child-like glee which helps Myka.

The chemistry between them is very much like siblings with romantic interests elsewhere. They respect each other and their jobs (enough) to not cross that boundary.

Do you like comic books as much as Pete does?
I’m a Marvel guy, especially Spiderman, the Hulk, and Man-Thing. When I got the role, the writers asked me what I liked and what I was interested in. I told them I’m a wrestler who liked Godzilla and King Kong and they used it.

What is your biggest geekiest pleasure?
All the Godzilla movies, and cons. (laughter from crowd)

I geek out all the time. I’ve been extremely lucky. I mean Captain Janeway is my MOM! It’s upped my cool factor.

What do you think of conventions?
Don’t knock it til you try it. God forbid we have people who enjoy innocent things.

Who would you like to CosPlay?
Oh man – what a great question. I think Ash from Evil Dead 2 with the chainsaw. That or a half-morphed Hulk.

If you could choose any sci-fi show, what shows would you like to see Warehouse 13 cross over with?
True Blood, because my wife’s a fan of it. Castle because I’d love to work with Nathan Fillion. Sanctuary with Robin Dunne. Anything with Jonathan Frakes. And Battlestar Galactica.

Warehouse 13 is a place where almost anything can happen. So maybe …
