Earlier this evening, TVD’s Michael Trevino (@M_Trevino) tweeted “Guess what??? We found our Mason Lockwood!!! Hmmmm, how long can I keep this a secret from the Twitterverse”, referring to the fact that the role of his uncle had been cast for Season 2.
Well, the news broke via Michael Ausiello that Taylor Kinney (Trauma) has landed the role.
Some fans on Twitter had been playing a little game of fantasy casting earlier this week, naming Tahmoh Penikett (BSG, Dollhouse) and Scott Elrod (Men in Trees) as potential candidates.
So, what does everyone think? Did they cast this role well? Personally, I liked him on Trauma, and I like his look. I can definitely picture him in this role!

I’d hate to be so utterly shallow but this guy is super-hot. Line him up next to Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Michael Trevino, Zach Roerig and Steven McQueen and it will be a drool fest for any woman watching. Way to go CW. Can’t wait for Season 2!
