Upfront about … ABC’s V

I remember when V aired back in the early 80s. All of my classmates were glued to their TV sets, and talked about it incessantly the next day at school. I was the only one not watching due to a regularly scheduled appointment with my pillow (i.e. bedtime) and a fear of anything with aliens! Fast forward a couple of decades – I still haven’t seen the original, but am I ever excited to see ABC’s re-imagined series!

At the upfront presentation for the 2009/2010 TV season earlier today, SciFi Wire reported the following about V, with quotes from ABC Entertainment Group President Steve McPherson:

V has a “normal order right now, 13 episodes. We really, from the beginning, want to craft a whole series, and we’d like to be able to announce what that is at the time that it airs. At this point we believe it’s going to be in four parts, and those will be anything from 13 to 22 episodes in each part. But it will have a beginning, middle and end,” he added.

Here’s a sneak peek at V:

The cast alone is enough to entice me, including Lost’s Elizabeth Mitchell, Firefly’s Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk, and Party of Five’s Scott Wolf. That promo is just icing on this delicious sci-fi cupcake!

Now that the current TV season is winding down, I’m going to have a lot of free TV watching hours. I think I’ll check out the original V before this new one makes its debut in 2010.

So how many of you watched the original? And are you planning to tune in?
