Watching "We Are One"

There is no doubt that this is a very important week, not only for the US as they welcome their 44th President, Barack Obama, but also for what it means to the whole world. What better way to celebrate this historic occasion than a concert, with musical superstars like Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and U2, with the Lincoln Memorial as a backdrop?

I’m not an American, but I’m very happy right now for my neighbours to the south. Watching this concert, seeing the smiles on the faces of the crowd, and feeling the ever growing sense of hope – what an exciting time to be alive!

Most moving performances? I thought Mary J. Blige’s rendition of “Lean on Me” was stellar. And of course, my favourite band on the planet, U2, performing “Pride (In the Name of Love” and “City of Blinding Lights”, choked me up a bit. Here’s their entire performance:
