Coming soon to CBS – The John Mayer Show?

My friends can tell you I’ve been quite vocal in the past about actors becoming musicians and vice versa, because actors aren’t always talented musical artists, and musicians can’t necessarily act., so for the most part, I’m opposed to it. It just seems gimmicky, but sometimes, it can be pure magic. Which musician might be next to make the leap? None other than John Mayer.

At the Television Critics’ Association Conference taking place right now in Los Angeles, a CBS exec confirmed that Mayer is developing a pilot for the network, according to People. At this point, it’s not clear if this will be a one-time broadcast, or a series.

In case you didn’t know, John Mayer is a funny, funny guy. He’s got a twisted sense of humor, and is great at poking fun at himself. Just read his
blog, or check out FunnyOrDie.com.

So should he have his own show? I say hell yeah, especially because it’s supposed to be a “music variety sketch show”.

If John Mayer ends up on the fall schedule, will you be tuning in?

Oh, and in case you were wondering where the fantastic photo came from, I took it at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, April 2007.
