Anthony Kiedis & HBO Developing Series

Two of this Televixen’s favourite things are about to collide – music and television. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ frontman Anthony Kiedis has teamed up with Catapult 360 partners Marc Abrams and Michael Benson to work on a TV project for HBO based somewhat on his memoir Scar Tissue.

Variety recently reported that HBO and Kiedis are developing a series

…which will center on Kiedis’ relationship with his father, Spider, who sold drugs and mingled with rock stars on the Sunset Strip, all while aspiring to get into showbiz.

RHCP have been one of my favourite bands for … well … decades, and I never thought of Kiedis’ childhood as content for a TV series, but the prospect intrigues me. I can actually envision this as Almost Famous meets Entourage meets Californication (Ooooh Californication … I see a pattern here.  Maybe it’s a sign). I can already picture Kiedis in a cameo appearance … although it’d thrill me beyond belief if he were a series regular and played the father role.

What are your thoughts on this series in development? Would you watch this series?
